Dr Josie Kelman, Chief Executive Officer
Josie is well known for her passion for taking action to create positive landscape change. She sees landscapes as including freshwater and terrestrial ecosystems and the people who inhabit them. Josie has worked in environmental management for 20 years, in both scientific and community engagement roles. The main focus of her research interest is designing and implementing effective conservation projects, that is, how to get bang for limited buck!
Josie’s ecological expertise is as a botanist and vegetation management specialist, having worked in both Queensland and Tasmania as a botanist and program manager. Josie is also actively involved in the community Landcare movement and was a Director of the National Landcare Network for 4 years and of Landcare Tasmania for 7 years. Josie works extensively with the farming community and has a particular interest in pastoral systems. This work is close to her heart as her parents and extended family are/were farmers.
