FAQ – How to upload a video

There are many different platforms you can upload a video to, and then share the link once you have uploaded it.

You can record your video on your mobile and then upload it directly to a platform such as YouTube, Google Drive or Vimeo to then share with others to watch.

Which platform should you use?

If you have a gmail account you can easily share via YouTube or Google drive as it is integrated. Here’s how you can do it:

YouTube

1. Sign in to YouTube:

  • Go to YouTube.

  • Click on the "Sign in" button at the top right corner.

  • Use your Google email credentials to sign in.


    2. Upload Your Video    :

  1. Click the camera icon with a plus sign at the top right corner and select "Upload video".

  2. Select the video file from your computer. (if you are uploading from your phone it is easy to this via the app. OR In this scenario, uploading to the google drive may be easier)

  3. Fill in the details: Add a title, description, tags, and choose a thumbnail.

  4. Set the visibility: Choose whether the video is public, unlisted, or private.

  5. Click "Publish" to upload your video.

  6. SHARE: You will then need to copy the YouTube link to share with us. Paste into your application form to us.

Q: Can I upload videos from my mobile device? Yes, you can. Download and Open the YouTube app, tap the plus icon, select "Upload a video," choose your video, and follow the prompts to add details and publish.

Google Drive

Q: How do I upload a video to Google Drive?

  1. Go to drive.google.com and sign in to your Google account.

  2. Click "New" at the top left corner and select "File upload".

  3. Choose the video file from your computer.

  4. Wait for the upload to complete. You can see the progress at the bottom right corner.

  5. SHARE: Share the video by right-clicking on the file, selecting "Share," and then choose “Copy link” and paste that into the application form to us. Remember to set the view options to “anyone with the link can view”

Q: Can I upload videos from my mobile device? Yes, open the Google Drive app, tap the plus icon, select "Upload," choose your video, and wait for the upload to complete.

Q: Why is it taking so long to upload? Videos will usually take quite a bit of time to upload especially on mobile. If it is not working easily, try uploading the video with wifi turned on rather than just mobile data. You can also change the video recording settings if you need to to make the file size smaller (google how to do this).

Other Platforms

Q: How do I upload a video to other platforms like Vimeo or Dailymotion?

In all cases you would need to have a login for the site. To upload:

  1. Sign in to your account on the platform.

  2. Find the upload button (usually a camera or plus icon).

  3. Select the video file from your device.

  4. Fill in the necessary details: title, description, tags, etc.

  5. Set the privacy settings and publish your video.

  6. Always remember to copy the link, and to set the view options to “anyone with the link can view”
